Screening on June 27, 2009, 8:00pm at Camelot Theatres
Hove (The Wind), set for world premiere at 2009 Palm Springs Short Film Festival with performances by Oscar-winning actress Olympia Dukakis (Moonstruck, Away from Her) as Zara and Armenian-American actress Shirleyann Kaladjian (A Dirty Shame) as Nina.
Palm Springs, June 27, 2009—As a part of this year’s prestigious Palm Springs Short Film Festival, the newest short film from Writer/Director Alex Webb, Hove (The Wind) will screen in-competition. Webb’s previous work has screened at The Houston International Film Festival, Clermont-Ferrand, and has won him a Panavision New Filmmaker Award.
This short film portrays the story of two Armenian women and how their relationship is deeply affected by a chance encounter with the past and the powerful, unresolved legacy of the Armenian Genocide. Olympia Dukakis comments, “Hove (The Wind) doesn’t ask for sympathy. What it does do is give you the opportunity to feel deeply what the Genocide means in these people’s lives—in all our lives!”
Milton Kam served as Director of Photography. He is best known for his Spirit Award nominated cinematography on Vanaja which won the Silver Bear at Berlinale. He has also won the Kodak Vision Award for the Creative Use of Cinematography.
