THE CRY OF THE ORPHANS:

YOUNG SURVIVORS OF THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE IN LEBANON

by

Missak Kelechian

Independent Researcher

Saturday, July 10, 2010 – 7:00 p.m.

Lebanese-born Missak Kelechian, an engineer by trade, has in recent years pursued the issue of orpha-nages established for survivors of the Armenian Genocide in Lebanon. Among these was the Aintoura Orphanage established by Jemal Pasha and run by famed Turkish feminist and intellectual Halide Edib, where Armenian children were stripped of their identities and Turkified. Kelechian will show several short documentary films on this subject and will discuss his ongoing research and efforts to document orphans of the Armenian Genocide in Lebanon.
